Parked next to this "Rumble Bee" at the mall, my son, whose favourite colour is yellow, was losing his mind with excitement

Kinja'd!!!

the hubcaps on a kiosk in the mall, hi, thatsa me

Kinja'd!!!

because it was the mall I 100% took my ECU with me, and when reconnected I clearly sucked at it, the wife gave it an accidental kick on the way home and my car coughed, threw a CEL and spluttered to the side of the road. turns out modern cars don't do so well without their brains

this was parked next to a Triumph TR6 at last night's cruise night. I meant to get a picture of the two, but then the owner of the truck started it up and I got very distracted.

Wait wait wait, because you parked at the mall, you took your ECU with you...as an anti-theft measure?

This seems like a mix of overkill, and when people used to carry around the pull-out aftermarket tape decks with them in the mall in the late 80s.

buy a line lock kit and hide the switch. It's the coolest anti theft strategy short of remote control ejector seats

Line locks engage only when energized - even if you hooked it up to a latching switch and constant 12V, it would drain the battery, not to mention constant engagement not being good for the line lock solenoid and hydraulic pressure probably not being good for the calipers.

Well I'm assuming the criminals would have to start the car to steal it.

Crime was rampant back then, approaching some kind of drug-induced peak that has been dropping ever since.

I always wondered how they were able to sell enough of those stolen car stereos to actually make any real money. It was a good time to be in the glass business, though.
